KoNECT (Korea National Enterprise for Clinical Trials) was established in 2007 as a non-profit organization funded by MOHW (the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare) to advance and to promote the country's clinical trial capabilities.

Extensive joint efforts have been made to actively develop clinical trial infrastructure through the establishment of 15 regional clinical trial centers, professional training and certification of clinical trial professionals, and support for the development of new clinical trial technologies.

In April 2015, KoNECT was transformed into a non-profit foundation, continually sponsored by MOHW to continue advancing clinical trial infrastructure and provide support for clinical trials in Korea. KoNECT’s mission is to facilitate close collaboration between government, academia and industry to maximize synergy between local and international partners seeking smooth and efficient clinical development.
